Lovett's Lodge
Dingle
Unfortunately there was not a whole lot of hospitality going on at Lovett's. It kind of ended once you had paid. It's run by a family who seem to find any interruption very inconvenient and are far from helpful anyway. They don't put any tourist information up and if you ask they just say go into town and actually closed the door in my face. I can understand they get intrusions a lot living in the same house, but if they put signs up saying the hours they had a reception open it would help. The rooms are ok, pretty comfortable and there is plenty of hot water. There is also a kitchen but it's all a little shabby and kind of lacks comfy, homely touches. Good if you need to stay in this area, but there are other hostels I would recommend you check out first.

Kenmare Youth Hostel
Kenmare
This is one of the best and cheapest hostels I have stayed at in Europe. The girl working there went way beyond the call of duty making us feel welcome, helping us wash and dry our clothes and generally being really really friendly. The facilities at this place look newly renovated. There is an enormous kitchen with microwave, cooking facilities, wonderful wooden furniture and plenty of talk amongst guests. There is also a few common rooms with TV and tea making facilities on other floors. The dorms are pretty comfortable and only about 13 euro a night. There is great walking around here and good access to the Ring of Kerry.
