CHRISTCHURCH

For many this will be the first port of call in New Zealand. The city is friendly with numerous churches, squares, gardens, universities and canals complete with gondolas. It has a very English feel with British summer temperatures. The central core of the city bases around Cathedral Square and the Avon River. Take a look also at the fine Hagley Park and Botanic Garden. Cycling is a good way of getting around. It's also a good place to plan your assualt on other parts of the South Island.
