Backpackers Gilligan
Cairns, Queensland
The Backpackers Gilligans is really luxury, I've never seen such a backpacker before, really like a hotel, with waterfall in the pool etc... but you don't meet people there, it is very big and they also steal things off me there. It's a really a nice place, but better fun is the Asylum.

Asylum
Cairns, Queensland
In Cairns I was in the craziest backpackers I've ever seen... called Asylum. Not very new or clean, but a really nice community, very cheap and always good parties and relaxed sitting together in the garden... I really liked this place... from there I moved to the Gilligans Backpacker Resort for 2 days, because my friend was visiting me and didn't want to stay in the Asylum.

Airlie Beach hostels - Koala, Beaches & Magnum
Queensland, Australia
Airlie Beach is nice to stay some days longer, I really liked it there. The Backpacker Koala is very nice, the Beaches is also not bad - I had very good luck with my room mates there :) There is another big backpackers called Magnum, I heard it's very dirty there. When you go to Airlie Beach, the sailing trip on the ship Tongarra is very good fun ... not the nicest ship, but really good party boat and friendly crew!!

Koala Beach Resort
Noosa
This place is not dead central for Noosa but it's nice and close to the river. I think it's a great location actually cause you can walk down to the main beach in about 10 minutes or be at the river side in 2 minutes. The river is actually pretty cool. There's a great walking path, tennis courts, eating areas, shopping and boat hire and all that. The people at Koala's were really nice and the place was very clean... that's important for me because I'm not so keen on all the bugs, and ants and insects although I know they are normal in Australia. I really recommend Koala's if you need somewhere to stay in Noosa.

Dolphins
Sunshine Beach / Noosa
I stayed here on an accommodation package that included a 2 night 3 day canoe trip on the Noosa everglades. I liked Dolphins, it was small and kind of intimate but unfortunately quite a distance from the central part of Noosa. But we were just a few minutes from Sunshine Beach which is probably less busy anyway. It's not real big so it made it easier to get to know the other people there. The good thing is that Dolphins picks you up when you arrive, make sure you ring first! and you can get a lift with them when they go to pick up other people. So that's how I did my shopping and got around. It's a long walk otherwise. The canoe trip was really great and I made friends with the other people in the group who were also staying at Dolphins afterwards, it's part of the package.
