AUSTRALIA
The options for an itinerary in Australia
are endless and will depend cmpletely
on your own interests, time and mode of
travel and where you land. Visitors are
always surprised to find Australia is
a lot larger than they though, even if
they are aware it is also a continent.
For those with a more flexible budget
air travel will be the best means of getting
around and save a lot of raod time. However
if you have the time and can afford a
car you can see a lot more of the country
and save money by camping. Those on limited
budgets will use more buses.
Most people enter the country by either
Sydney or Melbourne and a week or two
could be spent in and around either town.
those with a few more weeks usually head
north up the east coast with stops at
the Hunter Valley vineyards, Byron Bay
or further north to Surfers Paradise in
Queensland and then to Noosa, Fraser Island,
Cairns and the Barrier Reef. Moving on
every second day it would still take a
few weeks to cover this by land. Here
we have highlighted a few places you might
like to see in each state. Feel free to
contact us for more details.

NEW ZEALAND 3-4 days
Most people fly in and out of Auckland
or Christchurch so with only a few days
base yourself in either city and day trip
from there. 1 week
With a few more days up your sleeve you
can cover the cities above and maybe travel
north from Auckland up to the Bay of Islands
or south to Rotorua's thermal activity.
From Christchurch you may consider a visit
to Kaikoura to see the whales and colphins
and a lazy day or two on the scenic Marlborough
Sounds. Or head south to Mt Cook for a
spot of skiing or walking. 2 weeks
Include the above and in the north add
Taupo, Wellington and a ferry ride to
the top of the south island to the picturesque
Marlborough Sounds. Visit Kaikoura if
you have time. In the south continue from
Mt Cook to Queenstown and the wonderful
Milford Sound or across to Franz Josef
Glacier. 3-4 weeks
With up to a month you could combine a
visit to the north and south islands or
spend more time in just one area.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA
The options in PNG depend largely on what
you want to do, your time and budget.
A lot of the country is inaccessible unless
you fly. Unfortunately international flights
still land in the capital so a domestic
flight (expensive) is required to reach
the other coast.
3-4 days
If you have only a few days in PNG you
would be best to base in just one spot.
If you land in Port Moresby then spend
some time there. There is more to do than
most expect including the national museum
and parliament, market places and day
trips to Loloata Island for wonderful
snorkelling and diving. It is also possible
to get to the start of the Kokoda Trail.
1
week
With a week you could visit Port Moresby
and one other destination. For example
you could fly to Madan for some diving
and return for your onward flight or go
up to Mt Hagan for a traditional sing
sing. 2 weeks
With a bit more time you could combine
the two or select another destination
like Rabaul for volcanic backdrops, the
remote Trobiand Islands for the annual
yam festivals, or consider some of the
Sepik River. Alternatively you could spend
up to a week on the Kokoda Trail.
3-4
weeks
Complete the full length of the Kokoda
trail and see some of the other spots
as well.
