JANUARY
December-January (ends 1 Jan) Woodford Folk Festival,
Maleny, Queensland.
The Woodford Festival runs from Boxing Day through to
the January 2nd each year in Woodford, Queensland,
Australia - an hours drive from Brisbane.
Selcuk, Turkey: Camel Wrestling Camel wrestling held annually each year.

FEBRUARY
2nd February - Groundhog Day, USA
Festival celebrating the end of winter as made famous
by the movie Groundhog Day
Carnevale, Italy - 14 days before Lent this is a city
wide street party with masquerades, dancing and food.
Thaipusam, Malaysia - thousands of people converge on
the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur with offerings
pierced onto their bodies.

Boomerang World Championships, Germany

AUGUST
La Tomatina, Bunol, Spain
Tomato fight that began in 1944 and now attracts
thousands to the main square.
27-31, Air Guitar World Championships, Finland

SEPTEMBER
Sept 28 - Oct 4 - Vegetarian festival, Phuket,
Thailand

OCTOBER
October, Diwali, festival of lights (all major cities
in India). Diwali is celebrated the length and breadth
of India and falls on the 15th day of the dark
fortnight of the Hindu month of Kartik (October /
November) every year.

NOVEMBER
Venice - Feast of the Madonna della Salute -
procession crosses the Grand Canal via a bridge of boats.
