AIR
Dublin Airport (www.aer-rianta.ie/htmlonly/dublin/htm/home/index.htm)
is 11km north of the city. Airlink buses (€5) run
between the airport and Busáras, or you can get
a local buses (€1.60) 41, 41B, 41C.
The airport includes Aer Lingus and Ryanair flights.
BUS
Bus Eirrean, Eurolines
and Ulsterbus operate from Dublin's main bus station known
as Busáras. This bus terminal is centrally located
near Connolly train Station.

is operates the cities network and runs frequently at
10-20 minute intervals. Do not board at bus stops marked
'Set Down Only'. A single bus trip costs between €0.85
to €1.80. For a cheaper method of getting around
consider the Rambler tickets which are valid for unlimited
travel on Dublin Bus services including the Airlink bus,
but not including night buses. They cost €5 for a
one-day pass, €9.50 for a three-day pass, €14.50
for a five-day pass and €17.50 for a seven-day pass.
Night buses operate on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights
and charge a flat €4-6 fare.
TRAINS
DART & Suburban Trains
Iarnród Éireann (www.irishrail.ie/dart/home/)
operates a network of suburban train lines including DART
(Dublin Area Rapid Transport). DART and the Northern,
Western and South-Eastern suburban services are served
by Connolly, Tara and Pearce Stations in central Dublin.
South-Western suburban train services operate from Heuston
Station. Convenient DART services include those to Howth
and the ferry terminal at Dún Laoghaire. A single
trip from Dún Laoghaire to the city centre costs
€1.70.
A Short-Hop ticket is a combined bus, DART and suburban
train pass that costs €7.70 for a one-day pass, €15
for a three-day pass or €26 for a seven-day pass.
A one-day pass valid only on DART and suburban train services
costs €6.50
Iarnród Eireann (www.irishrail.ie) operates trains
to major destinations in Ireland departing from the two
main train stations, Connolly and Heuston. Connolly Station
is more centrally located and handles trains to Belfast
and Derry in Northern Ireland and destinations in the
north of the Republic like Sligo. Heuston Station handles
the other routes like Dublin to Cork, Galway, Killarney,
Waterford and Wexford. Heuston station is west of the
centre near the Guinness Brewery. Frequent buses connect
the the two stations.
FERRY
Dublin has two ferry ports. Sealink Ferries arrive at
Dún Laoghaire which is easily accessible by DART
trains from Connolly Station. B&I Ferries leave from
Dublin Harbour which is connected to central Dublin by
buses 53 and 53A.

HITCHING
Lifts north towards Belfast - walk 4km north along O'Connell
Street to Drumcondra Road and wait there. Alternatively
take the airport bus and get dropped off just before the
airport entrance.
Lifts south to Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Waterford etc
- walk along Thomas Street, past the Guinness Brewery,
and have a go on Emmet Road.
TAXI
To hire a taxi simply call the company, hail one from
the street or go to a taxi rank. The three main ranks
in the city are located on O'Connell Street, Dame Street
and St. Stephen's Green. Here is a list of the companies:
