BRISBANE
CITY

Brisbane has often been regarded
a sleepy capital city compared to Sydney and Melbourne.
Some travellers find the Queensland lifestyle a welcome
change and discover the secrets and beauties of the
town fun to draw out. Others may find the life a little
slow after the fast pace of Sydney and Melbourne. In
any case it's a fantastic base for visiting islands
off the coast and superb rainforests. But spare a few
days for the city. Interesting areas include Fortitude
Valley, New Farm, West End and Paddington for vibrant
street life, snug little cafes and interesting old Queensland
houses. In the inner city are some lovely parklands
and Botanic Gardens and South Bank which hosts numerous
weekend events and a man made beach. River Cats (ferries)
and bike/walking tracks make the city explorable from
the river.
