BUDGET

Hostels in Brisbane are located in three main areas: Petrie Terrace and Paddington, Fortitude Valley and New Farm, and in South and East Brisbane and West End. There is only one hostel in the city centre itself. In terms of locations Fortitude Valley is probably the noisiest and liveliest area to be, New Farm and West End have great eating areas.

The Brisbane Visitors Accommodation Service on the 3rd level of the Brisbane Transit Centre (Roma Street) can provide information on these, make a booking and arrange for someone to pick you up.

Most dorm beds in Brisbane go for about $15-20 per night. There are informative reviews of Brisbane hostels here.

CAMPING
Unfortunately most of the camping grounds are a little outside the city. Most are connected to town by bus and train routes but this can be limiting especially at night and on weekends.

MOTEL-HOTEL
Most motels are on Wickham/Gregory Teracce on the northern edge of the city, and Main Street (near Kangaroo Point).
Hotels in the city cost slightly more than those on the roads leading out to the airport (try Kingsford Smith Drive).

BED AND BREAKFAST
Most of these tend to be located in similar areas to the hostels and also in Spring Hill. Expect to pay about $60 for a double. Try to find accomodation in old Queenslander's with families.
