TAUPO

This town on the northern island is set along the lake of the same name and is a good spot for viewing various thermal activity famous in the region. Tours are available in town if you have no car. There are also all the usual kiwi adventure activities like skydiving, bungy jumping and jet boating. You might also want to try a spot of fishing for lake trout, particularly fly-fishing. This is a popular spot for most travellers and well serviced by transport.
